Kudos to OFW Bloggers!

We all say they are the Philippines' modern day heroes, sharing their homegrown skills and talents to the rest of the world miles away from motherland while contributing considerably to the nation's economy - the Overseas Filipino Worker (OFW).


Enter the age of the internet, and a new species of Pinoy overseas worker emerged...the OFW blogger.


On December 27th at the Philamlife Theater, the OFW blogger soared. The 2009 Pinoy Expats-OFW Blog Awards (PEBA) was held, honoring this year's best blogs created and authored by our kababayan overseas workers.

I was extremely privileged to witness the event (and even wore a dress for the occasion lol) right there on stage. It felt like the Academy Awards as I (for SubicBayFM), along with fellow host Vince Golangco of wheninmanila.com, opened each folded card and called out one by one the top ten blogs of the year. Definitely exciting.

Backstage, the hardworking peeps behind the awards ceremony seemed so collected, especially Felix Jigs Segre who directed the show. Pete Rahon was all over the place as he and Jigs constantly gave us instructions on what or who will be next. The guest speakers were the cream of the crop (Dinky Soliman, Rep. Riza Hontiveros-Baraquel, Susan Ople), and dance and band performances were excellent. Overall, I'd say, it was a raging success.

To the men and women of PEBA (led by founder Jebee Kenji Solis...thrilled to have finally met you), loads of congratulations for an outstanding job!
