A post-valentine treat : Songs about love and heartbreak

I want to treat Pinkoy readers with a little something, like a post-valentine gift of sorts - A playlist, actually two playlists of some of my favorite love songs straight from my personal audio library.

(I need to keep a backup of these files somehow since a lot of these aren't being played anymore, especially that Prince song "When 2 R N Love" which I think wasn't really actually played during its time. Listen to it and you'll know why).

Warning though for those who are into standard love songs: Well, they're not (most of them anyway)...but still, I invite you to listen to them.

Madonna pays tribute to MJ

Still on Michael Jackson (sorry can't help it), I'm reposting this bit of news, including the video.

Madonna paid tribute to Michael Jackson at the opening night Saturday (July 4th) of her Sticky & Sweet (Part II) concert tour at London's O2 Arena.

One day...two icons gone

It was around 6:30 this morning (26th of June) when I bolted out of bed to get ready for a trip to Manila for an important meeting with colleagues at our mother network. Vaguely recalling that my cellphone's alert tone went off around 30 minutes ago when I was half waking up, I checked that message that came in. It came from our radio consultant Andy "DJ DoubleB" which said "Michael Jackson is dead. 45 minutes ago. Heart Attack."

Say what?

"My Favourite Things" redux

A couple of days ago a friend of mine emailed (or forwarded) me a very interesting piece about the reunion of the Von Trapp Family. If you know what I'm talking about, you're definitely around my age (lol). I'm talking about that timeless film classic "The Sound of Music." The original cast had a reunion 40 years after the film was made.

For those who haven't seen the before-and-now photos yet, I'm posting it here in Pinkoy.

(Hey...where is Christopher Plummer in that reunion photo?)

Careless Whisper

Funny... it actually took a sex video scandal for this mushy 80s song to gain the spotlight again in this part of the globe.

I don't know if George Michael will appreciate it or cringe, but his 1984 #1 hit "Careless Whisper" got a new lease in life all because of that controversial Hayden Kho-Katrina Halili sex video - nope, not the real one, but the one where they lip-synched the song while dancing in their underwear (love that bandanna doc!). And, it has a name... the "Careless Whisper Scandal" (google it). What a way to revive an 80s classic.

Journey and Pinoy frontman Arnel Pineda Live in Manila!

Have you heard Pinkoy readers? Journey will have a concert in Manila and yes, they will be performing with Arnel Pineda!

OK so now I need to tell you the details of this piece of news. I incidentally posted something about this (as well as some new information about the guy...sort of) in my radio blog.

So, here's the link...

Rather smooth ain't I? Instead of saying...pleeeeeaaaase, visit my radio blog ^)^
