A deadly vocation

While driving my daughter to school, my partner and I were having this heated debate about the recent massacre in Maguindanao, killing among others, more than two dozen innocent print and broadcast local reporters who were only there to do their job.

Bob Ong Quotes...Translated (Part 6)

[Here's the much-awaited sixth installment of my translations of Bob Ong Quotes. Enjoy!]

Kung paniniwalaan namin kayo na hindi naglaro ng tubig kahit na basa ang damit n’yo, kayo ang niloloko namin; hindi kayo ang nakapanloloko.”

If we are to believe that you are not playing with water even if your clothes are wet, we are fooling you; not you fooling us.

Thanks KABLOGS! (plus: musings and a new blog project)

Back again from another long hiatus and guess what...blogger buddy Dungeon Lord surprised me with this piece of news: KABLOGS just gave me an award!

Pinkoy is definitely honored to have been chosen as a non-OFW recipient of the KABLOGS awards. Thanks so much! For sure, you will always have my support in all your endeavors.

Bob Ong Quotes...Translated (part 5)

ON LIFE

"Hindi lungkot o takot ang mahirap sa pag-iisa kundi ang pagtanggap na sa bilyon-bilyong tao sa mundo, wala man lang nakipaglaban upang makasama ka."

It's not loneliness or fear that's tough to face when alone, but in acknowledging that of the billions of people in this planet, nobody fought just to be with you.

More Bob Ong Quotes...Translated (Part 4)

Back by popular demand, here are more of Pinkoy's translations of those quirky quotes from Bob Ong.

Before we proceed though, I just wanna clarify that...no, I'm not Bob Ong's translator (in answer to a reader's question posed in one of my first of this series). Let's just say, I'm doing the english-speaking world a favor by sharing Bob Ong's in-your-face, street wisdom about love and life. Talk about a reality check, huh.

Humanity and Technology

Finally! Michael Jackson will be laid to rest. Though I must admit I was quite affected by his demise (the evidence being the two posts I did on MJ). Hey, I'm a child of the 80s, so that's that I guess.

Now it's back to the same ol' nose-bleeding task of posting (or reposting lol) some really good stuff here in Pinkoy.

Madonna pays tribute to MJ

Still on Michael Jackson (sorry can't help it), I'm reposting this bit of news, including the video.

Madonna paid tribute to Michael Jackson at the opening night Saturday (July 4th) of her Sticky & Sweet (Part II) concert tour at London's O2 Arena.

Ever Wonder...

1. Why the sun lightens our hair, but darkens our skin?

2. Why women can't put on mascara with their mouth closed?

3. Why you don't ever see the headline "Psychic Wins Lottery"?

A conspiracy bombshell or dud?

Lately I've been upping links from sources about this fairly recent issue about the H1N1 vaccine which they say would be ready for distribution by July.

Coincidentally, when the news broke out that Austrian investigative journalist Jane Burgermeister filed charges with the FBI against the World Health Organization, the United Nations and other powerful government officials (see links on right column), all of humanity was mourning over Michael Jackson's death, thus leaving this utterly shocking piece of news in the backburner.
